Debate: Is the New Testament Textually Reliable?

Hosted by Sacramento FAN

From Meetup:
Richard C. Carrier, Ph.D. is well known to the FAN people with multiple speaking engagements in the Sacramento area. He is extensively published. His latest book is “Sense and Goodness without God: A Defense of Metaphysical Naturalism”. Richard will be debating his nemesis, J. P. Holding, in our area, at the town of Plymouth, which is about 20 miles northeast of Sac. This is a great opportunity to get a quick and concise presentation of the issues involved in accuracy of the source of beliefs of many of our fellow citizens. Debates present the issue from both sides, which is very helpful to understand and assess the pros and cons of complex issues. Besides, debates are just plain fun, like watching a football game in the intellectual realm. Let’s go watch the action and cheer for our side. The religious folks will be there aplenty since they are hosting this event at their church, but non believers are welcome. Their auditorium holds 400.

Directions: Take interstate 80 east towards Sacramento. Continue on to Highway 50, exit Latrobe road in El Dorado Hills, CA. Turn right on Latrobe road. The church is on the left hand side at the corner of Latrobe road and highway 16, approximately 15 miles from the freeway exit.
